Paul McCartney Sings the Praises of Being a Vegetarian in New PETA Print Ad
They'll be no fish and chips for this famous Brit! Leave it to music legend and longtime vegetarian Sir Paul McCartney to launch one of PETA's best "veggie testimonials" yet. "Many years ago, I was fishing, and as I was reeling in the poor fish, I realized, 'I am killing him—all for the passing pleasure it brings me.' And something inside me clicked. I realized, as I watched him fight for breath, that his life was as important to him as mine is to me," says Sir Paul as he poses in PETA's "Eat No Animal" shirt. The ad concludes, "I Am Paul McCartney, and I Am a Vegetarian."
In an exclusive PETA interview, the former Beatle also dishes about going vegetarian to save the planet. Says Sir Paul, "What is interesting is that nowadays it is so easy to become vegetarian and so many people are reducing meat in their diet. That is a simple but extremely effective step that many people could take to help the environment and improve their own health at the same time.”
Paul's new ad is kicking off PETA's newest Web feature, where fans can go to hear what their fave stars have to say about kicking the meat habit. Check it out here!
