Series of PETA Public Service Announcements Win Prestigious Telly Awards
PETA is thrilled to have been a five-time winner in the 31st annual Telly Awards, which honor the best local, regional, and cable TV ads, programs, and film and video productions. PETA's award-winning PSAs utilize tongue-in-cheek humor, sex appeal, and serious subject matter to address a variety of issues, including the cruelty inherent in the animal-skins industry, the positive effects that going vegan can have on performance in the bedroom, the truth behind the turkey-farming industry, and the link found between cruelty to animals and violence toward humans.
In the first winner, music sensation Pink and comedian Ricky Gervais donated their voices to PETA for a PSA calling attention to the many animals who have their skins "stolen for fashion." The PSA—the first CGI spot for PETA—is an entertaining and educational piece calling attention to this important issue.
PETA's "Veggie Love" PSA—which was deemed too hot for Super Bowl XLIII—features a bevy of beauties who are unable to resist the powers of veggie love. In the PSA, viewers are assured that "vegetarians have better sex."
PETA's third winner—banned from the 2009 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade—takes a more straightforward approach. In the PSA, one honest little girl tells it like it really is—for turkeys—when she is asked to say grace around her family's holiday dinner table.
PETA's fourth winner features director and actor Eli Roth. In his directorial PSA debut, Roth reminds everyone to be kind to animals and to leave violence where it belongs … in the movies.
Pamela Anderson stars as a sexy airport security guard who strips unsuspecting travelers of prohibited items—fur, leather, and all animal skins—in our fifth award winner "Cruelty Doesn't Fly."
